Walking through the DongKan Brook, exploring the MaQue Valley (1)

I had been longing for this trip for more than a month since I missed the recent camping-out because of a meeting. In fact, I also had something else to do. However nothing was more important for me than my favorite sport. At the sight of other fellows at the appointed place at 8:00 this morning, I felt more excited than ever.

After half an hour of bus, we, a team of six guys and two ladies, arrived at the Xibixi Bridge where we were supposed to begin our this mysterious exploration. All of us felt both excited and uncertain for our trip. Nobody had ever explored the MaQue Valley. Now we were making the first exploration of the valley, especially, there was no people living nearby the valley. So there were many uncertain factors that maybe dangerous in this trip.

Whatever the difficulties ahead for us were, however the first waterfall we met cheered us up, the clear water washed our tireness away, and the touch of the water took away the smoldering heat. We felt as joyful and relaxed as the fishes in the water.

Under the waterfall was a pool, deep and green. At this, some guys couldn’t help themselves, ready to thrown themselves into the water. But time didn’t allow it. We just began our trip that was unknown for all of us.

Although the sun was hidding from behind the clouds, it’s still sultry. Our faces and arms felt bitten while our lower bodies was comfortably cool. Walking in the water on a hot day was always welcome. We were as cheerful and jolly as the joyous brook.

On the both sides of the DongKan Brook were layers upon layers of fields of crops of rice and corn, which were as green as the mountain. All made the deep green water pools that were so attracting that our resistance was weaker and weaker.

Ducks and cattle were seen swimming all the time, horses were grazing here and there, and chickens were following their mum hunting for foods in the bushes. They didn’t have the slightest surprise at the sight of us, while the folks asked now and then what we were going to do.

All the scenes were not unusual, but, so that some guys said that how wonderful it would be if all scenes were as beautiful as what we passed at the beginning. However, in my eyes, all I had seen and felt were pretty good. Even the swaying bulrushes in the breeze were as charming as maidens.

We met three farmers who were exploiting rocks that could be sold for rockery. They told us that a ton of the rocks could sold for 300 RMB. After inquiring the information of the route, we said goodbye to them and walked on.

I had seen a lot of waterwheels, most of which I saw in my childhood or in the scenery spots. So, seeing the real functional waterwheels excited all of us. We all took photos before the waterwheels. I wondered it wouldn’t be long before those primitive farming tools disappeared. Perhaps they worked not efficient enough, but they really looked good.

   To be continued .........
